La Liga has long been ruled by a select few clubs with enough influence and power to essentially run the entire country. There are other clubs that manage to beat them every once in a while, one cup here, one league loss there, but never a league title – not for a very long time. That may be about to change with the most unlikely club jumping into the battle for a league title, Girona FC

Much Love,
The Zealan

  1. Just because I've seen some discussion about it below:

Girona could play in the Champions League next season because City Group only owns 47% of the club, the rule banning clubs from the same ownership group appearing in the same European competition applies to controlling stakes, and city group doesn't have a full controlling stake in Girona. I could be wrong, I am but a man, but that's the way it seems to be interpreted in this case.

  2. While its hilarious that Real and Barca have a state backed club to contend with, while trying to rob football with the ESL, its terrifying how much power City Group are getting on football.

  3. why do you have to zoom in to your face so that it's bigger than the entire screen? It's gross. Move it back a foot bro noone wants to see your face literally bigger than a real life face on their screen. Shit is big brothery. Gotta be my least fav youtube trend

  4. LOL, biggest under dog? they are owned by Man city owners, they have lent them players, sent players to them to get 1st team football. What next, Red Bull Salzberg a small club over achieving?

  5. Nice video Z. But I think that one of the biggest reasons apart from the City scouting it´s that you are telling a player like Dobvyk or Tsygankov: hey if you perform well you´ll be on Man City. Thats the game changer otherwise they wouldn´t have convinced players like that to join a 10º side in la liga. Also shotout to Michel he´s a superb manager

  6. When I was a kid, it was said that City was an acronym for Conference In Two Years. The Conference is what The National League used to be called. Before rich owners, City were nobodies too, just lucky FFP wasn't a thing yet

  7. yes the girona story is great as is the leverkusen in germany but if u just scratch the surface abit the advantages city group and bayer as companies give to these teams cant be underestimated, the leicester city story contains no such hidden gems and that story wont ever be beaten i dont think even after all these years its still almost unthinkable that they won the premier league, the more u look into it the bigger underdogs they become in your mind, for such an average group of players and a journeyman manager to just somehow click for 38 games and win the best and toughest league on earth beggars belief, and when u add in stuff like the jamie vardy non league story stuff and the helicopter crash death of the chairman near the ground plus like 10 other things there is more than enough for a movie, unfortunately 99 percent of sport movies are shite

  8. I want a Troyes based sequel, how since they have been aquired by the City group, they have gone from Ligue 1 to now being in relegation from Ligue 2 and having their highest Transfer be a Girona loanee that's going to Man City

  9. I'm surprised you didn't mention that the club's chairman is Pere Guardiola, Pep Guardiola's younger brother, who is also a football agent. He joined the board as 2nd largest shareholder after the City Group back in 2017, although he's no longer such a prominent shareholder.

  10. Like Leicester? Come on Z, thats a complete different thing. Girona is part of the City Group, no one should be surprised if one of those teams win things. Remembers me of the Heidenheim Video.

  11. QUestion from me: Why they trying so hard if they won't be able to play in Europe? By UEFAs regulation 2 teams from 1 owner cannot play against eachother or even have a chance of it, so no CL and EL or ECL, as there is chance team higher will fall lower.
